Which grant is right for me?

For children

Child Support — the primary caregiver is on a low income.
Foster Child — a children's court placed the child with you.
Care Dependency — the child has a severe disability needing full-time care.

For adults

SRD R370 — 18–59, unemployed, no other income.
Disability — 18–59, medically unable to earn.
Older Persons — 60 and above.
Grant-in-Aid — you already receive a grant but need full-time care.

What all grants have in common

You must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or a recognised refugee registered with Home Affairs.
The application is free at every SASSA office and on every official SASSA channel.
Approval is backdated to the day you applied.
You have 90 days to appeal a decline.
Grants are paid into a bank account in the recipient's own name, on a Postbank card, or at a retailer paypoint.
