Why this site exists

A calmer alternative to noisy status-check pages.

Many status-check websites overload visitors with ads, pop-ups and social sharing widgets. This site does the opposite: no ads, no email capture, no tracking pixels — just clean information and a direct route to the official SASSA portal.

We wrote every page from scratch, in plain English, and update the amounts and rules as SASSA changes them.

🛡️

Your privacy, in one sentence

We do not store your ID number, phone number, or check results. Everything the tool does happens in your browser, and you leave through a plain link when you are ready.

How the SASSA status check works

Four small steps — then you are on the official portal with your paperwork ready.

Enter your details

Type your 13-digit South African ID number, your mobile number and choose the grant you applied for.

We validate the format

Your browser runs a checksum on the ID number (Luhn algorithm) so you catch typos before the portal rejects you.

Open the correct SASSA portal

The tool routes you to the exact SASSA page for your grant — SRD R370 has a different URL to the older persons grant, for example.

Read your real status

Match what you see (Pending, Approved, Referred, Declined, or Paid) to our short explainer to know exactly what to do next.

Common questions, answered briefly

Is this the official SASSA website?

No. This is an independent, ad-free guide. The official South African Social Security Agency website is sassa.gov.za. We link there whenever you need to submit or read data.

Do I need to pay to check my SASSA status?

No. Checking your grant status is completely free. If any website asks you to pay to check your status, close it immediately.

Why is my SRD R370 status stuck on "pending"?

SASSA performs monthly means-test checks with banks, UIF and SARS. "Pending" simply means the current month's check has not finished. See our SRD R370 guide for the full list of status messages.

How long does a new grant application take?

Most applications are processed within 30 days, though a disability grant can take up to 90 days because it needs a medical assessment. Read appeals and reconsiderations if it takes longer.
