The fastest and most reliable method. Your R370 is deposited directly into your bank account.
If your banking details are registered on srd.sassa.gov.za, SASSA deposits R370 directly into your account on your assigned payday (within the monthly payment window). The money typically reflects within 24 hours of the payment date.
Don't have a bank account? Open a free account at Capitec (Global One), TymeBank, FNB (Easy Zero), or Standard Bank (Access). Most require only your SA ID. TymeBank accounts can be opened instantly at Pick n Pay or Boxer kiosks. See our banking guide →

On your assigned payday, you'll receive an SMS with a voucher number and PIN to your registered cellphone number. Keep this SMS safe — do not share it with anyone.
Go to any FNB or ABSA ATM. Select "Cash Send" or "Cardless withdrawal" on the ATM screen. Enter the voucher number and PIN from the SMS. Collect your R370.
Go to the till at Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, or Usave. Tell the cashier you want to collect a Cash Send payment. Provide your voucher number, PIN, and SA ID.
Important: Cash Send vouchers expire after 30 days. If you don't collect within this period, the funds are returned to SASSA and you may need to contact them to have it reissued. Collect as soon as possible after receiving the SMS.
Collect your R370 at the till of participating retailers.
Go to any till and tell the cashier you want to collect your SASSA payment. Provide your SA ID number or Cash Send voucher. The cashier processes the payment and hands you the cash.
No minimum purchase requiredSame process. Present your SA ID or Cash Send voucher at the till. The cashier will process the collection. Some stores may ask you to go to the customer service desk instead of a regular till.
Customer service desk preferredStore says "no funds available"? This can mean: (1) your payday hasn't arrived yet — check at srd.sassa.gov.za, (2) the store has run out of cash for SASSA payments today — try a different branch, (3) system downtime — try again later, or (4) your voucher has expired.
Available at most Post Office branches nationwide, including in remote areas.
Visit www.postoffice.co.za or call the Post Office helpline to find your nearest branch.
Go to the counter with your original SA ID book or smart card. Some branches may also ask for the Cash Send voucher or Postbank Black Card.
The cashier verifies your identity and processes the payment. Funds may take 1–2 business days after your payday to arrive at the Post Office. Arrive early to avoid long queues.
Mobile pay points in rural and remote areas where banks and stores are not accessible.
SASSA operates mobile cash pay points in rural areas on scheduled dates each month. These are typically set up at community halls, churches, or designated open areas.
Protect yourself from theft and scams during payment collection.
Your Cash Send voucher number and PIN are like cash. Never share them with anyone, not even SASSA officials.
After collecting, put the money away immediately. Count it privately at home. Criminals target grant pay points and queues.
When collecting from Post Offices or pay points, travel with a trusted friend or family member for safety.
Your voucher SMS is on your phone. Keep it safe, charged, and secure. Delete the SMS only after successful collection.
Check your individual payday at srd.sassa.gov.za — it may not be the same as the general payment window. Wait 2–3 business days after your payday. If still not received, verify your banking details are correct. Full troubleshooting guide →
Check your phone is on and has signal. Make sure your registered number is correct at srd.sassa.gov.za. Some networks delay bulk SMS during peak hours. Wait 24 hours, then contact SASSA at 0800 60 10 11.
Double-check you're entering the correct voucher number and PIN from the SMS. Make sure you're at an FNB or ABSA ATM (not all ATMs support Cash Send). If the error persists, try a different ATM or collect at a retail store instead.
Bank deposits can take up to 2–3 working days to reflect. Weekends and public holidays can add extra time. If it's been more than 3 working days past your payday, check that your bank account is active and not dormant.
Generally no. You need your own SA ID and the voucher SMS is linked to your phone. However, if you have a formal Power of Attorney or are a designated caregiver for someone who is bedridden or disabled, you may collect on their behalf by visiting a SASSA office to arrange this officially.
Bank deposits typically reflect early in the morning (between 00:00 and 06:00) on your assigned payday. If you check before 6 AM and it's not there, wait until the end of the business day. Some banks process later than others.
You can change at any time, but the new method only takes effect after verification (7-21 days). Your current month's payment will still go to the old method. Change payment method guide →
Cash Send vouchers expire after 30 days and funds return to SASSA. Bank deposits stay in your account. If SASSA notices you're consistently not collecting, they may flag your account for reconfirmation to make sure you still need the grant.
No. Once your payment is processed (after your payday), you can collect at any time within the 30-day voucher validity period. For bank deposits, the money stays until you withdraw it. You don't need to rush to collect on payday.
